Biography
My name is Eve Stewart. I am a senior at Wakefield School in The Plains, Virginia. This fall, I will attend the University of Mary Washington and major in business and minor in percussion performance. During my senior year of high school, I wanted to discover myself by learning more about my upbringing and ideals. During my early years in education, I was struggling to keep up. My parents decided to take me out of public school and place me into a Montessori school. My academics improved immensely, and I enjoyed attending school and learning new concepts and topics. I attended Mountainside Montessori for eight years.
I owe most of my life to Montessori education. It has shaped me as a human, both academically and emotionally. It has made me a free-thinker and problem solver, has allowed me to be comfortable in mature/difficult conversations and situations, and has expanded my knowledge and understanding of the world around me, whether that may be animals, the environment, or just interacting with people, in general. The Montessori curriculum is constantly changing and expanding in order to fit all students' needs. I wanted to share my experiences so that, hopefully, any struggling students and their families know that there is another option that could help them to truly understand new concepts and love learning.
